Here are Kasen and Karl on our first flight. She did awesome. She even slept for a full 4 hrs during the Seattle - Taipei flight. We got an extra empty seat in our row and she was able to stretch out. Karl and I didn't get as much sleep, but it could have been worse.
She loved the iPad (as usual) and enjoyed watching her favorite movies (Beauty & the Beast and Tangled).
Her favorite distraction was definitely the Pluto Putty we bought at Cost Plus. Below she is playing with it at the beginning of the flight. She would pull it apart and stack the pieces. It was so successful, we broke it out toward the end of the flight too. That is when IT happened. Doesn't Karl look like something bad is going to happen?
This time she was pulling the putty apart in the air when she brought it over her head and.... yes. Pulled it down across her head. Her head covered in hair. Before we could act, the putty was snarled in her hair. We tried to pull it out, but it was only making things worse and pulling out large chunks of Kasen's hair. She was screaming, we were cursing, it was BAD. All at 30,000 ft. We ended up taking her to the flight attendants to ask for scissors (because we had to check ours). They assumed they had misunderstood us, but they hadn't. I quickly cut the biggest portion out of her hair (leaving some pretty short hairs in the back of her head). The flight attendants kept assuring Kasen she was still "pretty". There was still more, but everytime we messed with it she screamed. We had to wait until we got to our hotel in Bangkok (almost 10hrs later). By that time Kasen was calling it her "bow".
We had a few hours during our layover in Taipei, so Kasen got to enjoy the Hello Kitty store and the play area. See the Hello Kitty plane in the distance? (it's the left side of her hair that still had the problem. You can see it sticking out slightly in this picture).
Kasen was exhausted by the time we got on the flight from Taipei to Bangkok and was asleep before we made it to cruising altitude. She slept almost the whole 3 and 1/2 hour flight.
We got to the hotel tired, but the place is beautiful (http://bangkok-sathorn.anantara.com/). We are on the 35th floor (the picture below was taken off one of our 2 balconies). We even managed to get out for a walk around the neighborhood before Kat and I crashed for the night. Kasen, Karl and John got to enjoy the Happy Hour on the upper balcony. Today we are headed out to visit the a few wats and walk around Chinatown.
