We were able to leave the hospital on Tuesday afternoon (4/6) after I got my staples out. It was nice to have the few days of help and so many awesome visitors, but we were eager to get home. We also finally put Kasen in some real clothes. Below is Karl holding her before we loaded her into her car seat.
Kasen complained slightly when we got her into the car seat, but she settled down once it was picked up and moving. She seemed to like riding in the car since she falls asleep once we get moving. Here she is on the way home from the hospital. The pink and brown blanket was hand-made by our friend Rebecca and serves as the perfect warm blanket for the car seat.
Once we arrived home, the biggest introduction had to occur... Kasen and Sterling met. He was super interested in smelling her and she seemed not to even notice him. He even gave her a few kisses that first day. We think he has gotten used to her this first week. When she cries he always comes to check things out and is generally not satisfied she is fine until he investigates the situation fully. We hope they will be the best of friends.
This week was also Kasen's first doctor's visit. Here is Karl holding her in the lobby.
She was a trooper - not too much crying and she has already started to gain weight. She was 7lbs 5oz when we left the hospital on Tuesday. By Thursday's doctor appointment she was back up to 7lbs 6.5oz. This girl can eat!
This week has been pretty fun. My mom has been in town and has been so much help. She even babysat and Karl & I got to see friends on Friday night. We weren't gone long, but you can't turn down a willing baby sitter. Kasen's next big visit will be from Karl's parents next week. I can tell she is looking forward to charming them too.
As I type Kasen is sleeping peacefully on my lap. Almost too cute for words:
Looking forward to week two,
Debra, Karl, Kasen & Sterling - The Picarbockers
